Based in Ashbourne Derbyshire

Martinshaw Kennels is a licensed breeding establishment.

We named the kennels after the 300 acre Wood behind the property when we originally setup our breeding kennels in Leicestershire.

Please telephone first as we only allow visits to those viewing a new litter or re visiting a reserved puppy.

Kennel Club registered

We pride ourselves in breeding healthy, well reared and socialised puppies that are suitable as family pets.

Our pedigree dogs are kennel club registered with pedigree certificates and both parents can be seen, this also applies to the cockapoos but obviously these are unregistered as the breed/cross is in its early days.

All puppies leave up to date with worming and flea treatment, microchipped, a 48 hour vet check and supply of food. Our puppies are reared in a purpose built rearing facility next to the house so we can keep an eye on the pups and give them the attention they deserve.

If you are interested in purchasing a pup then please telephone first, as we only allow visits by appointment only.

You can visit pups once they are at least a week old and if their is one you would like to reserve then a non refundable deposit will secure your choice.

We are always available for after sales advice!

Cocker Spaniels

Cockers have always been popular dogs as they love people and make excellent companions for all family members, they are particularly fond of children and make safe friendly playmates as they are not possesive over toys or food as some terrier breeds are prone. The cocker spaniels we breed now are of the ''field'' variety rather than the ''show'' type.

This is because they have a more outgoing nature and ''bomb proof'' temperament,as their heritage derives from ability rather than looks alone. We breed a variety of colours and coat patterns.

Cockapoos

The cockapoo is not a pure bred but a cross between a cocker and a poodle. We only use miniature poodles as this gives the cross a better confirmation. Cockapoos started in the States during the 1970's after an accidental mating, they are now popular worldwide due to their charming personalities, non moulting coats and ''shaggy dog'' look.

The non moulting aspect makes them particularly suitable for people with allergies/asthma and also cockapoos don`t produce the "doggy" odour which comes with other breeds.
